The architect, Juan Navarro Baldeweg
Spanish architect, painter and sculptor.
Juan Navarro Baldeweg (Santander, 1939) is a Spanish architect, painter and sculptor. He graduated in 1965 from the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where he received his doctorate in 1969. He studied Engraving at the San Fernando School. He received scholarships from IBM and Juan March that allowed him to study at the MIT’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies, where he studied with Professor György Kepres. In the 1980s, he opened his own architecture studio in Madrid.
Throughout his career he has received numerous awards and recognition such as the National Prize for Plastic Arts of Spain, the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal, the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in Spain, the Gold Medal for Spanish Architecture, the Honorary Fellow Award from The American Institute of Architects and the Spanish National Architecture Award, among others.
